Nick Failla is the founder of Collected Concepts and has had the privilege of being a successful member of the fine jewelry industry for over 33 years. His experience spans across many facets of the industry including chain retail, independent retail, manufacturing and the service trades. These experiences have helped him to develop a comprehensive understanding of our industry which has led to holistic solutions for retailers and manufacturers.
A unique presentation style has helped Nick to engage his audiences. His seminars focus on interactive learning that encourages fun and participation. This has led to the privilege of providing seminars on an expansive number of subjects for industry organizations across the United States and Canada. Nick has hosted seminars on subjects that include internet marketing, social media, special events, Guerilla marketing, generational marketing & advertising and sales training. He has addressed these subjects as a contributing writer in noted industry magazines as well.
The Collected Concepts team is diverse and known for bringing unique and successful marketing tools to the industry like Interactive Digital Catalogs, Gaming Applications and Innovative Social Media campaigns.
Nick is a proud graduate of Adrian College and has added to his educational experience through graduate studies at the University of Michigan. Nick and his unique team are looking constantly for the next creative advantage and innovative strategy to help retailers and wholesalers become even more successful. His love of coaching extends beyond business as he continues to coach High School Varsity basketball. His love of music and the outdoors is shared with his family in his most valued role as father and husband.
John Daugherty is a 27 year veteran of the retail jewelry industry who has held several roles within the industry and throughout the country. John’s career started as a part-time sales associate for Kay Jewelers where he quickly advanced through the ranks to full time Sales Manager and District Manager. Most recently John held the rank of Regional Vice President at Sterling Jewelers and also ranked #1 within the Signet Jewelers. During his career, John has proudly won many awards and recognition. These accolades include awards for sales and gross margin performance, special event sales, and the training of leaders and associates. John finds it personally rewarding that a large number of internal and external candidates advanced to next level positions as a direct result of his training and mentor-ship. This skillset and his familiarity of different markets within the country is one that serves him particularly well within his role at Collected Concepts.
In addition to his corporate experience, John has also held leadership roles in a multi-unit independent retail organization. This opportunity provided John a comprehensive understanding of planning, strategies, and implementation procedures needed to excel as an independent jewelry retailer. During his tenure as an independent retailer, John was responsible for the construction of two new stores, the initializing of a fast seller reordering system and the development of corporate policies and procedures. His ability to perform all of these duties was a direct result of his experience assisting in managing the retail real estate portfolio, sitting on the training committee, and the implementation of an all new I.T. transformation for the field at Signet.
John has managed businesses in several states and locations throughout the Midwest, West Coast, and Southwest. He is a DCA Graduate, has attended classes on high volume management, sales training and leadership development, time management, as well as completing a course on Emotional Intelligence. These courses have had an impact on his leadership style and increased his ability to successfully communicate with a broad audience. John believes people learn best when they enjoy their learning experience, leaving his delivery style extremely interactive and fun!
John's true passion lies in the career development of people and his innate ability to problem solve. He joined Collected Concepts as Vice President of Concept Acquisition & Implementation. His role has allowed him to fuel his passion through developing team members and business owners in recognizing opportunities for behaviors on the sales floor, inventory management, and marketing. In addition, John addresses overall operational efficiencies. By doing this, John ensures a positive impact on business in all areas of their P&L. In this new role, John is also working to streamline talent and ensure optimum performance within the organization. He enables teams to better assist their businesses to achieve their goals.
